A herbalist has been arrested after two kids abducted were rescued by the Cross River State Police Command on Thursday .They were made sex slaves by the herbalist, Emmanuel Akpan-Okon, who held them hostage for four years. The kids, Esther Wisdom and Felicia Destiny, both aged 11, said in the four years that they were held hostage, the herbalist raped them almost every day. Oyo lawmakers on strike over unpaid allowances

The 32-member Oyo State House of Assembly has suspended legislative duties until the state government pays the accumulated allowances owed the lawmakers. According to information gathered, the government is owing the lawmakers furniture, car allowances and two months running cost for the legislative arm. Due to the strike, the sitting that had earlier been scheduled for yesterday was put on hold.       A woman who tried to kill her husband by lacing his drink with antifreeze has been jailed for 15 years. Jacqueline Patrick, 55, poisoned 70-year-old Douglas Patrick's favourite dink and gave it to him alongside a late night supper on Christmas Day . She had been encouraged by their daughter Katherine Patrick, 21, who collapsed in the dock in floods of tears as she was jailed for three years for helping her mum. The court was told that Mrs Patrick had first tried to kill Douglas in October 2013, but when he survived she continued to put harmful substances in his drinks.
