Jonathan's wife barred from VIP lounge of PH Airport

WIFE of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, was stopped from using the VIP lounge of the Port Harcourt International Airport, barely two months after her husband left office.

The former first lady, who was in Port Harcourt for the burial of her late Chief Security Officer (CSO), Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, who was said to have been shot dead on Airport Road, Abuja, penultimate Friday, was said to have been denied access to the VIP lounge, commonly used by dignitaries.

Staff members at the airport were said to have denied her access to the lounge on “orders from above.”

“Mrs Jonathan was on her way to the burial of her late CSO, Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, who was allegedly shot dead by unknown assailants penultimate Friday.

“Igbomie’s corpse was found in his Honda Accord car on Airport Road, Abuja, with all his phones, wallet and other personal effects intact in the car.

“Last Friday, July 17, the former first lady arrived Port Harcourt International Airport and made for the VIP lounge as had been the norm. However, she was practically locked out and prevented from accessing the lounge.

“All efforts by the former president’s wife and the few people by her to pacify the security agents at the airport to allow the protocol were rebuffed, as they stood their ground claiming that they had ‘orders from above,’” a source who witnessed the scene said.
