EPL: Liverpool, Arsenal Play Out Thriller, Chelsea, City Held

Joe Allen scored in the 90th minute to earn Liverpool a point in a pulsating 3-3 draw with Arsenal at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s side went in front after 10 minutes when Petr Cech saved an Emre Can shot and Roberto Firmino controlled the rebound and fired low through a defender’s legs.

But the visitors were level within minutes when Aaron Ramsey was played in by Joel Campbell and placed the ball beyond Simon Mignolet.

Firmino struck again in style, curling a wonderful finish past Cech to restore the home side’s lead, but Arsenal responded when Olivier Giroud — who had earlier failed to steer a great chance home — took advantage of penalty area chaos at a corner to prod home.

They were in front before the hour mark when Giroud turned inside the area to beat Mignolet with a fine finish, but Liverpool kept battling and were rewarded when Allen volleyed home via Chech’s fingertips.

Also James McClean’s late strike earned West Bromwich Albion a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Just as Tim Howard produced a brilliant display to help Everton hold on for a 0-0 draw against Manchester City, while Robert Huth’s late header proved enough for Leicester to beat Tottenham at White Hart Lane and draw level on points with Barclays Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Sergio Aguero was twice denied by the American and Raheem Sterling also saw a shot saved as City’s title hopes suffered a setback.
