Photos: Thirsty Cheetahs Storm Hotel's Swimming Pool In South Africa For A Drink.
A pair of thirsty cheetahs stopped at a lodge’s swimming pool to quench their thirst. The big cats leaned over the pool - ordinarily used by guests of Tshukudu Game Lodge in Hodespruit, South Africa - for a drink after a busy day of hunting.
British photographer Tracey Jennings was relaxing by the pool when the cheetahs approached, and captured some remarkable pictures from only five meters away.
“It was such an unusual situation that I picked up my camera and started shooting,” Jennings said. “They were drinking for around 10 minutes then they went off to do what all cats do - sleep in the shade under the tree and groom one another.”
The cheetahs’ mother was killed by a lion several years ago and they were partially reared by experts at the lodge, so are used to humans.Nearby Greater Kruger National Park is home to many wild animals, and with no fence protecting the lodge the cheetahs walked in and drank at leisure.
