Prisoner Who Knocked Out His OWN Teeth Awarded £42,000 Compensation
The 47-year-old inmate reportedly made numerous complaints while locked up in solitary confinement at High Desert State Prison, in Nevada.
In an emergency grievance form submitted in October 2012, Sanzo complained that his teeth could be "moved back and forth like piano keys.
He reportedly wrote: "I can barely take the pain and hunger. I can barely eat," he wrote. "I can't sleep at night. The pain is awful."
Sanzo's requests were ignored over an eight-month period, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported.
In one form, guards reportedly replied: "When your name comes up on the list we'll see you."
The desperate prisoner eventually resorted to pulling out six of his own teeth, one complaint states.
Sanzo reportedly punched himself in the face in a bid to remove the problematic teeth.
The inmate filed a civil rights lawsuit requesting $1,000,000, claiming he was the victim of cruel and
unusual punishment.
He later settled with the state for $60,000, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Hehe, one day prisoners will also have rights in Nigeria and win cases.
