The United States Mission in Nigeria - No-interview visa renewals for Nigerians, lists conditions

                                  

The United States Mission in Nigeria has announced the expansion of visa services to assist non-immigrant applicants.

The procedure commenced February 1 at the U.S. Consulate in Lagos and will be extended shortly to the U.S. Embassy in Abuja.

A statement on Tuesday noted that the number of qualified applicants who can request using the new method will be limited for now.

Persons eligible for a renewal without an interview are those seeking a B1/B2, F, M, J (academic only), H, L or C1/D (combined only) visa.

Conditions: The previous visa must have been issued in Nigeria; Previous visa must be the same classification as current application;

Previous visa had a full validity, multiple entry visa; Expired within the last 24 months or will expire in the next 3 months from the date of application;

Applicants must have all passports covering the entire period of previous visa as well as the passport with the most recent visa;

“You have never been arrested or convicted of any crime or offense in the United States, even if you later received a waiver or pardon;

“You have never worked without authorization or remained beyond your permitted time in the United States”, the conditions read further.

Expedited appointments (in-person interviews) are for Nigerians with a life-or-death emergency but will be very limited.

The U.S. Misson added that business travel, conferences, weddings, and graduations are not considered emergencies.
