A children’s coach at Chelsea repeatedly raped a 12-year-old girl at their training centre in Surrey, a court has heard. Shane Hughes, 31, allegedly abused the girl 15 times over four months in a physiotherapy room, where she was supposed to be getting treatment for a knee injury.

An Iyaganku Senior Magistrates' Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday, sentenced a 19-year-old man, Sunday Jimoh, to six months in prison for biting a woman on the breast. Jimoh was arraigned on a one-count charge of unlawful assault of a woman. The Senior Magistrate, Mrs Munirat Giwa-Babalola, who did not give the convict an option of fine, said Jimoh was found guilty of the offence and should serve his sentence with hard labour.

Governor Ortom of Benue State has urged his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam, to come up with defence of allegations of massive looting and misappropriation of state funds leveled against him during his eight-year tenure as governor of the state. Work on the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote refinery being constructed at the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos is currently at the sand-filling and soil piling stage, while some portions of the complex are being cleared of vegetation. This stage of construction, the firm said, was not in any form a threat to the December 2018 completion date of the project.          A group of backpackers has sparked fury after they stripped naked on a beach in Malaysia and posted the photos on social media. The pictures show the group of 13 tourists taking their clothes off on a beach in Semporna, Sabah state, Borneo. As controversy continues to trail the new tax regime imposed on business outfits in the state, Igbo traders in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital yesterday staged peaceful protests against what they described as “outrageous taxes” imposed on them by the state government. Nigerian gas company, N-Gas, the main supplier of gas to Ghana’s Volta River Authority through the West African Gas Pipeline, has given the VRA up to the end of February 2016 to clear its outstanding debt of $171.5m (N33.79bn). The N-Gas buys gas from oil companies in Nigeria and transport the commodity to its customers in Benin, Togo and Ghana through the $1bn WAGP, which is operated by the West African Gas Pipeline Company. The N-Gas had recently said it would cut gas supply by 70 per cent to Ghana’s main power generation company by Friday, October 16, 2015 due to unpaid debts of $181m.

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai on Saturday said his government would soon commence the arrest and prosecution of parents who allow their children to engage in street trading rather than being in school.
