                                   Seven suspected cultists, allegedly said to be terrorizing Ijora Badia and its environs in Lagos, have been arrested during initiation by officers of the Lagos State Police.            A 33-year-old Chinese man died while participating in an international marathon in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen on Saturday, December 5. According to CCTV News, Yao was 400 meters away from the finish line when he suddenly collapsed. He was rushed to the hospital but the emergency treatment could not save his life.

The Department of State Services (DSS) yesterday raised a fresh alarm about covert plan by the terror sect, Boko Haram, to unleash mayhem on residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Five vehicles, three shops and one house in Ojuelegba, Lagos were burnt on Saturday after a tanker containing 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, spilled and caught fire. A 30-year-old man, Omoyeni Ojo, has allegedly been stabbed to death by an unidentified bus conductor in the Kilo area of Surulere, Lagos, during a heated exchange on transport fare. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 28, 2015. The late Omoyeni, it was learnt, boarded a commercial bus at Ojuelegba area of Surulere and handed the conductor a N500 note in payment of the fare. The conductor was said to have told the deceased that he had no lower denomination of the currency to pay Omoyeni his balance.

Three members of a robbery gang allegedly terrorising communities in the Agbado area of Ogun State have been arrested by the police. It was learnt that the suspects – Tope Oyeleye, aka Elede; Abiola Yekini and Yusuf Olohuntoba, aka Ete – were arrested on Monday by policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of Agbado Police Division.

                           National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officilas have arrested a 52-year-old Nigerian woman of British extraction for alleged currency trafficking. The suspect, Sarah Olukoya, was arrested yesterday while trying to board a Virgin Atlantic flight to London at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at Ikeja, Lagos. She was found with $114,245 and €2,020 cash inside 13 white envelopes in her luggage. Born to a Nigerian father and a Scottish mother, Olukoya had both Nigerian and British international passports.

A Cambodian court has convicted an unlicensed medical practitioner of murder and sentenced him to 25 years in prison for spreading HIV among almost 300 villagers. A spokesman for the court in the northwestern province of Battambang said Yem Chrin, 56, was found guilty on Thursday of torture and cruel behaviour resulting in death, intentionally spreading HIV and practising medicine without a licence.

An Ohio teen missing since November was found alive in Missouri on Tuesday night, more than 600 miles from her Brooklyn home. The 15-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped by an online predator, who she met through the chatting app Kik, according to an affidavit obtained by the Cleveland Plain Dealer . He kept the girl captive in his Marthasville home for almost a month, forcing her to clean his home and have sex with him.

The Senate yesterday passed for second reading a bill seeking two years imprisonment with an option of N2 million fine for Nigerians who post “abusive statements” on the social media. According to the bill, it will be unlawful to submit any petition, statement intended to report the conduct of any person for the purpose of an investigation, inquiry without a duly sworn affidavit confirming the content to be true and in accordance with the Oaths Act.
